Westfield Big Red Band

Volunteer

Volunteer. Get Involved.
Don't Miss A Moment.

We welcome all volunteers who would like to help the Big Red Band. We need volunteers to chaperone trips, distribute items to students, and help with events. The process of becoming a volunteer is simple.

1. Please submit your application by clicking the “Register” button on the SISD Volunteer Website. Spring ISD requires all volunteers to complete a free background check through the district.

2. When you receive your confirmation email from the district that your background check has cleared, please forward it to our Volunteers Coordinator at [email protected]

One of the best and most rewarding ways to be a part of the Big Red Band Family is to volunteer! It gives you a “front-row seat” to your child’s band/guard experience and shows you care about what is going on in their lives. It takes a village to keep everything running smoothly, and could not be done without our fantastic volunteers. There are many ways to donate your time and talents, and we welcome them all! See the information below for an overview of the various volunteer areas.

Chaperones

Transporting 150+ students from school to the stadium and back can be a big undertaking. Still, it’s also an excellent opportunity to get to know the kids and other parents and guardians! We need many chaperones to make it happen, and we’d love for you to join us.

As a chaperone, you’ll ride with the students on the school buses to and from games and the charter buses for out-of-town contests. Game days can happen on Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays, so there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.

Whether you can help once a week or once during the season, we would be thrilled to have you on board!

Pit Crew

As part of the Pit Crew, you’ll get full access and be at field level for each Big Red Band performance. You’ll be responsible for the logistics of the band program, including loading and unloading band and guard equipment at every football game and marching band competition. We also occasionally hold workdays for prop construction, equipment storage, and other events as needed.

Our crew comprises parent volunteers of both band and guard members (not just percussion “Pit” band parents). All are welcome to join us, so be part of the fun and help us make the Westfield band program the best it can be!

Food Crew

Feeding our 150+ band and guard members is no small feat! That’s where Food Crew comes in – we provide delicious meals, beverages, and snacks to keep everyone fueled and ready for game day and contest trips.

Joining our Food Crew team is a fantastic way to connect with our students and other parents. We’re always looking for volunteers to help out on game day afternoons or during competitions. Whether you can offer a few hours once a week or once a season, we’d be thrilled to have you join us and be a part of the team that keeps our band and guard members going strong!

Uniforms

Keeping our kids looking sharp week after week is no easy task! Whether donating an hour or two to launder uniforms or assisting with fittings during Summer Band, every little bit counts.

Our dedicated Uniform Committee ensures our band and guard members look their best at games and contests.

And it’s not just about uniforms for the marching band – the committee also takes care of concert band attire. By lending a hand, you’ll have the opportunity to get to know the kids and be part of the team that makes everything possible.

So please, consider helping out. With many hands, we can make light work of this important job!
